Take the time to let go of this year

Reports on the infancy and early childhood of Jesus found in Luke 2…

When Mary and Joseph had completed everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to their hometown, Nazareth in Galilee. 40 The child grew up and became strong. He was filled with wisdom, and God’s favor was on him.

~ Luke 2:39-41, CEB

After this, there are three long paragraphs describing the yearly trek to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover. Even the Son of God had to make progress; he had to develop and grow. How often do we expect ourselves or others to be mature? Fully formed? To stop making mistakes?

As 2019 winds down, I recommend taking some time to let it go. Prepare for the next year. Notice what you want to change and ask God to rescue you. But also take the time to realize that you are fully human, and not required to get it right. You are asked to believe.
